People are NOT born 'gay'

I believe this for a number of reasons and will back it up with facts as best as I can, many have referred to me and others as ignorant and have yet to produce any facts other than, 'I know a gay person.' Good for you. Trophy is in the mail. My points are mostly geared at those that refer to themselves as Christians and yet still condone homosexuality.

1. Homosexuality is a sin, according to the Bible. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 - "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." If you call yourself a Christian then you must also believe that the Bible is holy and completely true. EVERY word of it. “… from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:15-17). If you don't then just stop here and don't proceed to argue or comment. I believe according to what God has put in his word, if you don't then of course we're going to disagree. Also, there are plenty of men with more feminine qualities and women with more masculine qualities. Everyone is made different. Also, if people are "born gay" then why do some not act on that until they have a midlife crisis? Or how is it that there are recovered homosexuals that have come out of the lifestyle? People who are born black dont grow out of it. I use the "black" analogy because homosexuals rights are often compared to those of an African-American. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and most African-Americans would find this offensive.

2. If you are interested in what GOD'S WORD has to say about homosexuality check out THIS site or THIS site. OR you can just continue in your rejection of TRUTH.

3. When a discussion about homosexuality came up, someone brought up the term 'a loving God.' Isn't he tho? Isn't he just ridiculously amazing? So why would a God who loves us more than our brains can fathom create a human to already be wired to be a human that can never enter the kingdom of heaven? We all have free will. Creating someone who is 'gay' would be taking away their free will wouldn't it? Just a thought.

4. Just because someone is choosing to live the homosexual lifestyle does not mean they don't deserve love and respect. In fact, I think they deserve more of our love and prayers and thoughts, because if you look at the STATISTICS they are often very broken people who have been abused in one form or another or come from very broken homes. This bullying epidemic that is going on is so much deeper than someone jumpin off a bridge because they are gay. When I stand up and say what I believe about homosexuality, I will instantly be bombarded with 6-10 people who disagree and almost no one else will stand with me, even if they agree! Christians are being silenced, it's more popular and accepting to be gay than it is to be a Christian who lives according to the word.

I believe it's a deeper issues. Loneliness, emptiness, brokeness! This is an epidemic in our youth! DID YOU KNOW that suicide is the FOURTH leading cause of DEATH for ages 10-14?? HEARTWRENCHING! Unfortunately, I believe the media is manipulating (shocker!) these horrific tragedies for their political agenda. There are young people hurting EVERYWHERE and Killing themselves or using drugs or sleeping with everyone and their mother to find love. WAKE UP, AMERICA! WAKE UP, CHRISTIANS!! Don't just stand there and whine about intolerance. Crack open your Bibles and read about what is right and what is wrong and then go read about how to reach out and LOVE those broken lonely people, whether they are gay, addicts, promiscuous, etc. THEN go find out how you can dig into your community and your church and reach them with God's love and TRUTH. And by truth I dont mean bash them over the head with your Bible, I mean the message of the Gospel and how Jesus died for our sins and all we need to do is accept that gift of Salvation and TURN from our sin. (I think many people miss the "turn" part) And FOLLOW JESUS. Keep your eyes on Him.

Ok thats all, I'll limit myself. I really could go on for days ;)

Perfectly Imperfect.... I think that name suits you very well. Your writing is SO imperfect that it's rediculous. It's offensive and racist and to call your self a Christian also makes it hypocritical. I think it would only be right if you called yourself 'Perfectly Hypocritical.' Your a joke. Your a bigot. Your just like every other person who feels the need to throw their opinions all over people. No matter who it hurts. If you want to call your self a Christian, go ahead. But you are personally giving Christians a bad name. Try loving people for who they are. THAT'S BEING A GOOD CHRISTIAN. Not writing blog posts hating on every little thing that you don't think is right.

Try taking a step back and put yourself in the shoes of the people that you talk about. When you mentioned the teens that jumped off a bridge for being bullied, you made it seem like they had other issues in their lives. Maybe they did, but they killed themselves because of people like you who say that they are going to go to hell because of who they are. Would you like that if someone said that to you?

You need to understand that somethings are better to keep to yourself. Because you just look dumb. I feel sorry for you. I have friends that are just as religious as you... they accept everyone, and love everyone. Try that. You'll be SO much happier.

boy did you open up a can. God speaks of many reprehinsable sins in the new testiment. And if you are actively involved in any of them you are bard from heaven. All should be loved , all should be prayed for, all can be saved. Homosexuals join a long list of those who want their cake and eat it to. Even as Pastor Greg say, MUGWUMP's are the worst. (fence sitters). Whats going to spank you on the butt is the ones who say you lack love and are condeming. We say Its not a physical issue its an emotional and sexual style issue. well anyways your going to be in enough trouble. Your backers are still out here.

Wow Priscilla...talk about "running" your mouth!!!!!!! I have never read your blog, and I am only here to see what you were referring to my fb page, as your blog post. I find the beginning of your post, amazingly geared to me? Am I wrong? At any rate...we are two different sides of the fence. I am a Christian. I totally disagree with you. I believe in a loving and forgiving God. And I thank Him every day for the blessings in my life. You are a nice girl . You have a beautiful family. Let's leave well enough alone now, shall we?

Who says that if you are a Christian you must believe every word the bible says??

Did GOD tell you that?

Do you believe EVERYTHING you read?

I certainly don't.

And I certainly did not choose my sexuality. I feel LUCKY because GOD CREATED ME to be sexually attracted to men and not women. I never ever ever chose my sexuality. GOD CREATED ME this way.

PLEASE PRISCILLA tell me when did you CHOOSE to be a heterosexual? When? How old were you? When did you make the choice?

What's that? Did you think about it. No you never chose. Because GOD ALSO CREATED YOU. To be the individual he created you to be. You had no say so in the matter.

I am a CHRISTIAN. And I believe in GOD. I believe in a GOD that created each and every one of us. The good people and the bad. And I can NOT believe in a GOD that would condemn people that he created to be homosexuals to hell because of their sexuality. That GOD sounds pretty cruel doesn't he.

When did you choose to be straight?
Please tell me when.

PS- if you didn't want to hear comments that you do not agree with then you should not post controversial material on your blog.

I am not saying I do not like you.
I am not saying anything negative to you or about you. I think you are a nice girl, and I am simply standing up for something that is right. Someone has to be courageous enough to have a voice.

Genn said...

PS- If you as a Christian believe everything that the bible says,

I guess GOD also thinks that all women should be silent,

and the science does not exist.

Hmm.

Love the sinner, hate the sin. That's what's being truly discussed here. All this stuff about intolerance is ridiculous. Even though gay people may be some of the nicest people, their choice is still against the Bible. Yes Jesus is loving but he said the "he came not to abolish the Law but to fulfill it." The old testament clearly describes God's view about it, and Jesus did not come to say, "can't we all just get along". It will be very sd that in the last days, many of these so called "Christians" are gonna stand before God and say, "didn't we do great things in your name. Didn't we cast out demon in your name." An Jesus will say, "Away from me I never knew you". I like a lot of Gay people but I don't let them think that I also condone their lifestyle. Christians need to stand for the truth no matter how that makes others feel.

Priscilla said...

Genn, I don't mean any disrespect, but you don't believe the Bible so there is no use in a debate when we don't stand on the same ground. I never read that part about rejecting all silence and silencing all women. And yes, I believe every word. :)

Genn said...

I must say I am also not the slightest bit suprised by all of you brave Christian ANONYMOUS people. If you want to share your opinion you should be brave enough to say WHO YOU ARE. Wow.

One more final thought...

if GAY people are ostracized, beaten up, teased, made fun of, depressed, have a high suicide rate, or remain in the closet their whole lives-

ASK YOURSELF THIS-
WHY WOULD ANYONE CHOOSE THAT FOR THEMSELVES?

Would you CHOOSE that for yourself?

And to all of you BRAVE ANONYMOUS people- WHEN DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR SEXUALITY? Or maybe you are in the closet yourselves.

Genn said...

Priscilla- Do NOT tell me what I believe.

I said I do not believe everything I read.

Genn said...

I just have one FINAL thing to ask you.

Please, I am asking you very nicely, to please just think about my question.

WHEN did you choose your sexuality?

Please answer me that.
When did YOU choose?

If people are not born gay, then you believe that at some point in their life they decide to be gay.

So tell me, when did you choose to be straight?

Priscilla said...

You don't get to customize Christianity to fit your views. God's word is either God's word or it's not. I know, its so much easier to believe only the warm fuzzy parts. And I make a CHOICE every day not to engage in sexual acts with women. Is that what you are asking? The real fact of the matter is there are MANY people who could tell you exactly when they turned gay or turned away or became bisexual or whatever! Is someone born with more feminine or masculine qualities? Absolutely. The Bible says choosing the homosexual lifestyle is a sin and if not repented from would mean eternity in hell. Yes, I believe this and not bc I think its funny or a fabulous thing, but because as a believer I would love to see everyone on the the planet turn from sin and seek the Lord and spend eternity with him. and the last anonymous post was my husband, but he does not have an account so it posted as anonymous. And also I never meant to come across as telling you what to believe. I only meant I can't really debate someone that when you and I read the scriptures, we clearly are not seeing the same message.

Shann said...

Holy cow! You never cease to completely blindside me. Every time I think you have gone too far, you do it again. I know you love the debate and you feel like it is your duty to express your opinions, but your arguments are pretty weak. It's easy to find websites to link up to your blog that share your opinion.... Are the sites credible or they just support your theory? None of these sites are backed by a church and I couldn't find a/an pastor/author's name. For one, writing blogs like this is not showing that you, "LOVE those broken lonely people, whether they are gay..." How are you doing your part with that? What's your plan of action to help these people that are sad and lonely? You are condemning and judging humankind. I don't think you are educated about things outside your own experiences in life. I don't know if people are born gay or not and even if it is a choice... it is THEIR choice. So first it was single moms and now it's gay people.... who is next? Also did you read the part about sex outside of marriage?

Priscilla said...

I'm glad I keep you in amazement :) feel free to quote me correctly, tho. I have nothing against single moms. Dont keep kicking a dead non-existent horse. And my blog is in response to multiple mentions on fb and on other blogs and yes, I throw in my 2 cents. AND THANK YOU FOR NAILING THE SUBJECT ON THE HEAD : "it is THEIR choice."

Priscilla said...

oh and I did read the part about sex before marriage. It's a sin for which I have acknowledged and repented of. We can list all my sins and guess what? No matter how long the list, I have turned from my sin and I am washed white as snow. As is anyone else who TURNS from their sin.

Genn said...

Priscilla,

I am not asking you whether or not you fight the urge to be sexually attracted to other women.

Obviously you are straight.

Obviously the natural human sexual desire is very strong.

Obsiously, you are sexually attracted to your husband.

SO my question Prisciall, is WHEN in your life did you decide that MEN is who you are attracted to?

If you say the bible says sexuality is a CHOICE,

then tell me Priscilla, when did you make the choice to be attracted to men instead of women?

Genn said...

Are murderers and pedifiles, and rapists washed "white as snow"?

How lovely.

You should just shut your mouth now because it doesn't matter what you think. God has the final say so. And that's it.

Priscilla said...

Wow.

Anonymous said...

im anonymous because i have no account. but on the note of rapist and murders..YES! he forgives EVERYTHING. amazing, i know. but that is why he is OUR GREAT GOD. no matter the length or amount of lie no matter the damage, no matter what you do, god says " a lie is a Lie, a sin is a sin!"
most people dont get that.
no the good dont get into heaven, the bad do...
why the bad you ask? bc we have repented for the things we have done, we have been made new, GOD DOES NOT EXPECT US TO BE PERFECT! get that! That is why he created a way of repenting...
also...GOD wants us sooo badly to be close to him, but if we don't want that he will not sit and beg us, he lets us be bc that is what we want..he lets us make decisions even if there wrong. WHY? because he is a forgiving GOD and lets us come back and say listen we are in the wrong. I agree with you Priscilla on believe every word...who BS"s the bible? thats a joke.
Girl, your arguing with hard headed people who are so wrapped on "gay"
every think black people, asiains, short people, tall, fat kill themselves?
GAY is a chosen lifestyle!

Anonymous said...

Perfectly Imperfect has a point...people are not born gay. Being gay is a choice -and if you decide to be gay, then more power to you. Stop playing the victim and stand by your choice.

I don't believe you have the follow the Bible to a T makes you a lesser Christian. It just makes you less a fundamentalist. Perfectly Imperfect is stating her opinion - and shes a strong person in standing by it.

But lets look at Jesus. Jesus mocked the high priests who followed the Bible so literally that they made hypocritical fools of themselves. People criticized him for associating with sinners. I could see Jesus walking into a gay bar and having a few drinks while preaching the gospel. Because that, to me, is the ideal Christian - one that doesn't judge, but leads by example. And I believe that is how God is. He is the only one that can see past the bad choices, past everything and down to the heart. And really, its the heart that matters.

I'm sure that a lot of people can attest to the fact that love is hard to find. Sometimes you find it in unexpected places. I would never want to put a roadblock on that road.

Genn said...

Priscilla,

I shoud not have said for you to shut your mouth, so I apologize for that.

What you think is your opinion.

You have yours, and clearly I have mine.

To each his own, and that is that.

CNLSRL43V3R said...

I don't know what blog you all are reading, but I saw not one hateful comment! Just because Priscilla does voice her opinions does not mean she HATES gay ppl she clearly stated that she does not, that was never the her point, so I am unclear as to why you are all so mad.

If you engage in homosexual relationships and do not repent you WILL go to hell end of discussion! If you are a christian and believe otherwise then I am so sorry you have not been informed correctly or have chosen not to teach yourself (which can only be done by reading the bible)

You can not pick and choose what parts of the bible you are going to believe its kinda an all or nothing deal, and lets get one the perfectly straight NO WHERE in the bible does it say being gay is ok and gay ppl will be accepted into heaven NO WHERE!!!!

Priscilla goes against the popular beliefs because no matter how many ppl think its ok as Christians we know better! THIS DOES NOT MEAN WE HATE GAY PEOPLE OR THAT WE DONT LOVE THEM!

I don't see how she was being hypocritical, nor do I think she gives Christians a bad name, nor does she need to put herself in anyones shoes just because they choose to live in sin does not mean everyone should experience that. Don't get mad because she is wise enough to CHOOSE to walk along side the good LORD the best she can.

Last but not least I agree being gay is a choice you are not born gay it not only goes against God but if you don't believe in God it also goes against nature, life would not exist if that was the plan (lets get real) mother nature intends for survival of all beings and this requires male and female (Adam & Eve not Adam & Steve) Oh and I lied one more thing she is not being racist she was using that as an example.

Romans 8:1-17

Life Through the Spirit

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature,God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man,in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.
Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. 8Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.

You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.

Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation—but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba,Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

I think you are 100% accurate, God gave us many choices. Choices on how we should live our life's and choice's on what we do in our every day life's. I also agree that EVERY word in the bible is TRUE, and that we can't pick and choice parts from the bible to make us feel better or things of that nature. And you do have many, many valid points, my only concern is that you may come off a little abrasive. Being said some times the truth is hard to swallow, and facts aren't always the easiest thing to see. God will reward you for your work's spreading His good word, just know that when you put His word out there the Devil will be on his game to put many people on the hunt to run you down and try to make you retreat from putting out what you and I both know to be the truth!

Kris said...

Oh my goodness! Sometimes it isn't necessarily WHAT you say that ticks people off so much, but rather....HOW you say it.

Priscilla said...

I apologize if I came off abrasive or rude. Those were never my intentions. I'm just very passionate and get fired up when people who scream for tolerance are often times the most intolerant of all. And in this case, I think the majority of those who found what I said to be offensive it IS because of the content and not the nature of it and that's alright. If nothing else, I hope you dive into the Bible for yourself and see what God's word has to say.

Kris said...

Dear Priscilla,
When you post something such as this, you must be aware that it will attract comments that you are going to be very opposed to. It is a highly debatable topic, like politics!!! There is no winning this argument. You have to understand that as passionately as you may feel on this matter, others will feel equally as passionate, in opposition. What we must not lose sight of however, is how to be respectful when we disagree. And of course, that above all else, to treat anyone poorly for any reason, is never okay. When Gennifer originally posted her feelings on her blog, we warned her of the outcome. And even when you think you are prepared, it is hard to hear opposition, especially when delivered in an abrasive and condescending manner. So with that said, I say to you, although I respectfully disagree with how you feel, I think you are a delightful young woman, with an incredible passion for your God. And while we may not get to customize Christianity to fit our views...as you say, we do have the freedom to choose our house of worship, and with those choices, we are allowed to customize somewhat. For what may be a perfect fit for one person in one church, may not be for another, and they are free to find a church home where they can "customize" and find their own personal fit. I have friends who are Catholic, and Mormon and we don't all feel and believe exactly the same. But we ARE all God's children. So on this, we so abundantly agree.
: ) Fondly, Kris

I would love to answer your question, but I won't. You are a sad, very ill person who needs Jesus. I didn't post your last comment because of the things you said about my family. You are a coward that you would constantly come on my blog all day long to comment and harrass me and you can't even put your name. I can't even think of anyone I could ever possibly hate as much as you must hate me to put as much energy and time into TRYING to bring me down. I truly feel utter sadness and pity for you. The Lord is my defender. If He is for me then no one can be against me. Have a great weekend!
